Live virtual platforms have taking the training world by storm. Pre-Covid, the idea of online classrooms was a venue reserved for corporate gurus and tech geeks. Even for someone like me, an authorized OSHA outreach trainer with a strong background in networking and computer technology, Zoom or Webex video conferencing was far from the primary avenue of training. Fast forward a year and Live Virtual Training (LVT) is quickly becoming the future of learning.
We regularly receive comments from learners expressing their surprise about how engaging and interactive their LVT experience was. Overall, the feedback we are receiving is very positive. Many users are pleased to have access to live training that may not otherwise have been possible.
That being said, the biggest drawback I see is the inability to offer that hands on experience we can provide with live in-person training. Fortunately, with new advances in artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and machine learning, this hurdle is quickly being overcome. The use of emerging technologies in learning has launched an era of unparalleled opportunity. VR and AR will enable organizations to deliver more immersive learning experiences that have not been possible before.
The future of learning is right over the horizon and coming fast. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.
